The Development Report is a notable publication by the Washington DC Economic Partnership (WDCEP). The report has been released for the years 2022/2023. It provides a comprehensive overview of the local and regional economy, industry trends, employment, and development. Also included is lease activity within the District. The report highlights evidence of positive economic activity and growth. Activity includes groundbreakings totaling 9.7M sqft and the arrival of 6,749 residential units, 582,000 sqft of retail, and six new hotels. The District benefits from continued demand from residents, employers, and visitors although it faces some challenges. While job growth remained positive, no noteworthy office projects commenced in 2022. This represents a first since WDCEP started monitoring development activity in 2001.
